Case study 01 / 02

2026

From general bookkeeper to the clear choice for holistic health practices

01 — What wasn't working

Strong expertise, no clear position

Kara had deep financial expertise, but no clear market position, no established brand, and no website built for a specific kind of client. Speaking to “small businesses” in general meant the site couldn't show any prospect that she understood their business.

She had tried designing her own logo, but it didn't feel like her, and it didn't stand out.

02 — What I uncovered

Health practices share the same money headaches

Cash-pay health practices, like chiropractors, wellness clinics, IV drip bars and acupuncturists, run into the same bookkeeping problems, and generic bookkeeping copy never touches them:

  • Revenue split across Square, Stripe, practice software and HSA/FSA cards
  • Prepaid packages, memberships and refunds that are hard to reconcile
  • No clear view of which services are actually profitable
  • Paying a bookkeeper but not trusting the numbers

03 — The story I built

The practice owner is the hero. Maple Tree is the guide.

The old approach talked about Maple Tree. The new brand tells the practice owner's story, with Kara as the guide who helps them get where they want to go. That story shaped the messaging, the order of the pages, and how the brand shows up everywhere else.

The hero

A chiropractor or holistic practice owner who opened a clinic to care for patients, not to be a part-time accountant.

The problem

Revenue scattered across Square, Stripe, practice software and HSA/FSA cards, and numbers they don't fully trust.

The guide

Kara: someone who understands how health practices get paid, with the expertise to make the books make sense.

The plan

One simple next step: a free discovery call.

Success

Books they can trust, a clear view of what's profitable, and more time for patients.

When the story is clear, every design decision has a job. The headline names the owner's frustration, the comparison shows the cost of doing it alone, and the client story shows what life looks like on the other side.

04 — What I changed

A website built around the practice owner from the first scroll

  • Narrowed the positioning to chiropractors and holistic health practices
  • Built the brand identity, refining logo options together, plus a full brand guide
  • Wrote messaging that opens with the practice owner's reality and a “Does this sound familiar?” list of their exact frustrations
  • Structured the site to lead with the problem, then a DIY vs Maple Tree comparison, a client story and one next step: a free discovery call
  • Shaped service content and SEO around how cash-pay practices actually get paid

05 — The impact

A brand that speaks to one clearly defined client

Practice owners now see their own payment processors and frustrations in the first scroll, with one obvious next step. And Kara has a brand system she can use consistently everywhere she shows up.

One clearly defined client

Positioning narrowed from “small businesses” to chiropractors and holistic health practices.

Their story, told first

Practice owners see their own payment tools and frustrations in the first scroll.

One brand system, used everywhere

A logo, brand guide and messaging Kara can reuse across every touchpoint.

“It represents who we are and has a clear message throughout.”
