Case study 02 / 02

2026

From confusing financial service to a clear, low-pressure path to inquiry

01 — What wasn't working

Visitors didn't know enough to take the next step

Loan Note Exchange helps people sell privately held mortgage notes. Most visitors have never done that before. They arrive unsure what it means, what their note is worth, and whether they can trust the company on the other side.

The old site didn't explain the service clearly enough to close that gap, so people left before they were ready to reach out.

02 — What I uncovered

Five questions stood between a visit and an inquiry

Before anyone feels comfortable reaching out, they need answers to the same five questions:

  • What does selling a note actually mean?
  • How does the process work?
  • How is the value determined?
  • What happens after I inquire?
  • Can I trust this company?

Visitors also arrive at very different stages, from just curious to ready to sell, so one generic page couldn't serve all of them.

03 — The story I built

The note holder is the hero. Loan Note Exchange is the guide.

Financial websites often lead with the company and the jargon. I rebuilt this one around the seller's story: someone facing an unfamiliar decision who needs a trustworthy guide and a clear path. Every page now plays a part in that story, from the first explanation to the final inquiry.

The hero

A Midwest mortgage note holder who's ready to sell, often for the first time.

The problem

An unfamiliar process, no clear sense of what the note is worth, and no easy way to know who to trust.

The guide

Loan Note Exchange, which connects note holders with licensed buyers across 12 Midwest states.

The plan

Learn how it works, request a free Market Data Report, then talk to the right buyer.

Success

Selling with confidence, knowing what the note is worth and what happens next.

Once the story was mapped, the structure followed it. Education handles the problem, trust content introduces the guide, and the Market Data Report gives the plan a comfortable first step.

04 — What I changed

A single path that takes sellers from curious to ready

  • Split the content into decision-critical information, trust-building content and deeper education, so the site is easy to scan without losing detail
  • Organized the site around one primary journey, with calls to action placed inside the learning path instead of pushing people too early
  • Made the first step low-commitment: a free, no-obligation Market Data Report
  • Expanded FAQs and resources to answer common mortgage-note questions and create entry points from search
  • Built reusable components and consistent page structures that reinforce credibility on every page

05 — The impact

Sellers understand faster and know exactly what to do next

Visitors can now understand the offer quickly, find the answer to the question they came with, and move toward an inquiry with a clear, low-pressure next step.

A single path from learning to inquiry

Learn, evaluate, trust, act, with the next step built into each stage.

Better-informed prospects

The site answers sellers' five big questions up front, so they can arrive at the first conversation already understanding the process.

A low-pressure first step

A free, no-obligation Market Data Report for sellers who aren't ready to talk yet.

“A website that feels clear, professional, and easy to navigate. It does a much better job explaining what we do.”
